Camping Day-Trip to Batu Arun

The examination is over for our Year 6 students, and our PK KK, Mdm. Munga, has came up with an idea to take the boys & girls out for a refreshing retreat. This day-trip was originally planned to be a picnic but seeing as we'd have little time to do many extra curricular activities this year, we'd all agreed to do a mini camp as well. So, two outdoor activities were combined as one!

Year 4 and 5 students were involved in the trip as well. A few enjoyable activities were drawn up for the day by our teachers; Mr.Mike, Mr.Basri and Miss Fazita for the children. The slots were well thought of to give the students some kind of learning experience that otherwise would never be gained in the classroom.

Students were taught how to erect a tent, in which they must know how to pick a suitable spot for camping, how to build racks from tree branches, how to use different kinds of knots for dressing wounds and also how to survive in water/from drowning.

It took a 10 minutes-drive and a bit of walking to arrive at the site. After unloading all the things needed, the students erected tents supervised by Mr.Larry and Mdm. Munga.

Afterwards it was up to Mr.Basri, Mr.Ngelambai and Miss Fazita to handle the kids in a 'simpulan' competition. The students were divided into groups, and they competed to be the best among them in doing any type of knots instructed by the teachers.

Up next, playtime with 'kain anduh'!! No, actually this time around the students have to compete with each other in making the right sling & dressings for different kind of wounds (i.e head wound, broken arm, simple wound dressing etc.)

In water confidence slot, the students were given demonstrations by Mr.Ngelambai on how to save oneself and others from drowning. The correct use of lifejackets was taught,too.

By the way, barbecuing, swimming, fishing were included in the day's itinerary too. ^_^

Library II

A little bit of work has been done for a some time now to renovate and beautify our school library. The pictures above are taken several weeks before. Given that most teachers are still busy up till now, we can only carry out the works planned for our library bit by bit, as we have to squeeze in whatever free time we have to complete the project.
